Dominguez Family: Hope for DR | Hampton Roads Family Photographer

How do you get 11 people together for a family picture when, three of them serve in the military, and five members live over half of the year in a different country where they serve as missionaries?  How this amazing momma was able to accomplish getting all of her children in one spot for two hours amazes me.

I love Birth Photography | Hampton Roads Birth Photographer

 I love photographing birth.

I feel privileged to be invited to sit in on such an intimate moment, watching, observing and capturing two people as they prepare to bring a brand new tiny human into the world.

45/52 San Diego and Alumni Game

It was my mom's birthday this week so Hannah and I decided to fly out to San Diego and celebrate with her.
We paid a visit to my grandma and went out for mani/pedis and lunch with the birthday girl.

My grandmother has Alzheimers and doesn't know who I am.
It has been touch and go,  so  I'm glad I got to see her one more time.

I took pictures of my sister's family while we were there.
Robbie had quite enough by this picture. I love 7 year olds!

We flew back on Tuesday just in time for Isaac's Alumni game.
It was so good to see him on the court  again.

29/52 Grateful...

for those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice

I photographed a funeral service for a retired Navy Seal instructor. (Due to the sensitivity/security for the active duty military that attended I will not be posting any of the images in order to protect them.)  Attending a military funeral always brings life into perspective and makes me grateful for all those who have sacrificed so much.

Hampton Roads Birth Photographer: Birth of baby G and Week 40

I had the opportunity to capture another birth this week. Mom was absolutely amazing. We were at the hospital less than hour when she had baby G since she did most of her laboring at home. Since every October baby decided to be born in the same 24 hours the wheeled him to the nursery to get him cleaned up and measured so I wasn't able to capture any of his firsts.

Hampton Roads Birth Photographer: First Birth Story

I was so thrilled to have the opportunity to shoot my first birth. J and D are dear to my heart. My daughter took ballet from J for several years and was in her wedding. I was so thrilled to have the opportunity to be with them. D's love and tenderness toward J during labor was so touching and the way they communicated and interacted with each other was inspiring.
